COVID-19 plan
What is Food FX Catering’s COVID-19 plan?
Food FX Catering adheres to all Government Health requirements. Our food preparation facilities comply with health and safety regulations. All of our staff are double-vaxxed.
We have a COVID-safe planning in place for all catered events. For private events that we manage, to comply with Queensland Health requirements we require a copy of your guest list with contact phone numbers of all attendees.
What if my event is cancelled because of a COVID-19 lockdown?
This depends on how close the catering date is when a lockdown is announced. Currently, in an effort to be as prepared for such events as viable, we purchase food and start preparations as close as possible to the event date. When time is on our side, a full refund will apply. For orders closer to a lockdown announcement, we shall do our best to provide a solution that is equitable for all involved.
Planning your menu
Can I create and customise my own menu?
Yes! Change, swap and mix and match menu items to create your own gourmet experience! Food FX Catering menus are a guide and a simple way to organise catering for your event. We will happily discuss your ideas and develop a menu that suits your event.
How do I know how much food to order?
With every catering order, we discuss and plan your event requirements with you. We’ll ask loads of questions and use our year’s of experience to design a menu perfect for your event!

What if I have a limit to how much I can spend?
We have a number of menu options that are designed to suit every budget.
We will also work with you to determine quantities so there’s minimal waste.

How do I know how many canapés to order?
Food FX Catering Canapé menus are designed to ensure there will be sufficient food for everyone. Our menus are designed to serve food for between 1.75 to 2.75 hours (dependant on the number of guests). This is definitely something we will discuss with you when you contact us to plan your event requirements.
Can I order menu items suitable for specific dietary requirements?
Yes. We do our absolute best to ensure every guest is catered for – gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free, even alcohol-free (heaven forbid!). We do need to know these details prior to the event, so please ensure you discuss this with Jerry.
What if I need to order more food at the last minute?
Please call Jerry directly on 0414 674 696 – please don’t send an email.
What if guests cancel last minute. Will I be left with too much food?
Yes. Any leftover food is yours – we shall pack and store in your containers.
Does Food FX Catering do Vegan?
Yes, we do cater for Vegans.
Does Food FX Catering source ingredients locally?
We love supporting local! Our local produce suppliers regularly deliver to us the freshest of fresh ingredients.
As a boutique business, we know how important it is to support other local small vendors and suppliers.
Event details
When do do I need to provide final numbers?
The sooner the better! We do understand that things can change last minute, so we do request final confirmed numbers no later than four (4) days prior to your event.
Can Food FX Catering provide wait staff for my event?
Most certainly! We can provide fully qualified, professional chefs, food and bar attendants. A detailed overview of service fees is provided on our Catering Information page and included our downloadable Catering Information pack. All service staff are fully qualified in the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA). You are most welcome to have family and/or friends to provide food and bar service.
What time will Food Fx Catering arrive before my function starts?
We plan to arrive approximately 1–1.25 hours before food service is to begin. We will coordinate this time with you prior to the event, so you know well in advance when we are due to arrive.
Event facilities and requirements
Can Food FX Catering organise hire equipment?
Yes. We can organise to hire all necessary equipment (eg. tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery, glassware, linen, coolroom, marquees, AV equipment, lighting, staging, etc). A hire surcharge of 10% is applied. For required equipment we will prepare and submit a quotation for your approval.
What equipment do we bring with us as part of our catering service?
When we provide catering in your home we bring service platters, kitchen trays and utensils, napkins, plates and cutlery. We will need access to your oven, stovetop, microwave and a clear workbench area to prepare. We won’t require fridge space as everything is packed in Styrofoam boxes.
Do I need to provide anything?
We require access to an oven, microwave and plenty of clear workbench space.
Does Food FX Catering require fridge space?
No thanks. Everything we bring will be packed in Styrofoam boxes suitable for safe food storage for the duration that is required.
Our event is in a park! Will you bring cooking facilities?
We will plan the most suitable menu for your event, taking into consideration the venue location and available facilities. Food can be delivered cold and hot. And when required, we will provide the necessary equipment to prepare/cook/heat your order. Please note some equipment has a hire charge.
Will Food FX Catering clean-up after my event?
Yes. We thoroughly clean all facilities used during the event including ovens, stove-tops, microwaves, workbenches and floors.
Can I keep any leftovers?
Our aim is for everything to be eaten and enjoyed! However, if there are leftovers, we can pack these into your provided containers.
Can Food FX Catering recommend other services I may need for my event?
With our many year’s experience, we have worked with the best-of-the-best in a variety of other services needed for a great celebration – photographers, wedding planners, florists, musicians. Please ask us when we discuss your catering. We’d love to help you make your event absolutely amazing!
Are there any insurances I need to consider for my event?
This is a decision for you to make and may depend on where your event will be held. If it is on private property, please consider whether public liability insurance cover is needed.
Operation details
What are Food FX Catering’s operating times?
We cater and provide food for events 7 days a week. Breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, lunches, dinners… if it’s food you need – we’re available!
Does Food FX Catering deliver or cater outside Brisbane?
Yes. We regularly cater and deliver to locations on both the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and around Ipswich.
Can I pick-up my food order from Food FX Catering?
Most certainly! Our kitchen address is: 1526 Sandgate Road, Nundah.
Can Food FX Catering deliver my order?
Yes. We can deliver to locations throughout the Brisbane CBD and suburbs.
Payment information
Do I need to pay a deposit to confirm my booking?
A 30% deposit is required to secure bookings for weekend catering of 30 or more people. Our downloadable Catering Information PDF has more details about how to make your payment.
Weekday corporate catering orders do not require a deposit. An invoice is presented for payment within seven (7) days from the order delivery.
What payment options are available?
We can accept payment via the following options:
- Direct payment via bank transfer.
- VISA and MasterCard (only). Please note: a surcharge of 1.9% is applicable for credit card payments.
We’ll provide the specific payment details on our invoice.
When do I pay for my booking?
Payment for orders not requiring a deposit are due on delivery/event completion (or the day after if it is a weekend event). For orders where an invoice is provided, payment is required within seven (7) days of the invoice date.
